Ana Mena, Psy.D

Dr. Ana Mena is a licensed psychologist in the state of California with an interest in community mental health and experience working with children, adolescentes, and adults. She received her Bachelor’s degree from California State University, Bakersfield and her Doctorate degree from The Chicago School of Professional Psychology, Los Angeles campus. Having also graduated from the Alberto Mottessi School of Evangelists with her Associates degree, Dr. Mena seeks to use her education, experience, and theological background to help those most in need.

Psychological Services

Dr. Mena has worked in outpatient community mental health clinics, domestic violence shelters, and juvenile detention centers. She has received training and certifications in various evidenced based treatments like Trauma Focused – Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (TF-CBT), Positive Parenting Program (PPP), Managing and Adapting Practices (MAP), and Seeking Safety (SS).

Her therapeutic approach is informed by theories and research on development, attachment, affect regulation, neurobiology, adverse childhood events, and trauma-focused practices. Dr. Mena’s treatment planning is guided by assessing an individual’s developmental, social, religious, cultural, familial, and interpersonal history through which she aims to provide a therapeutic environment that fosters safety and understanding, in order to process an individual’s personal meaning and psychological pain.

Kids

Dr. Mena has specialization training in working with early childhood mental health via play therapy and dyadic play therapy with parents. Play therapy is designed with the child in mind, using the language of play. Each psychotherapy session with both the child and the parent aims to emphasize understanding of the child’s mental and emotional world.

Dr. Mena also works with adolescents by understanding that their relationship with their parents is pivotal in their development of intellectual, social, emotional, and self-regulation skills. Dr. Mena believes that in the adolescent’s treatment, it is essential to foster a sense of safety, allowing for deeper therapeutic explorations, reflections, and sincere dialogues so that teens may learn to navigate difficult interpersonal interactions.

Fees & Insurance

Service Payment

Payment is expected to be made at the time of service prior to beginning session unless other arrangements are made.

Method Payment

Accepts cash, checks, and credit cards.

Sessions Duration

All sessions are 50 minutes.

Service Cancellation

Cancellation of session with less than 24 hours notice or failing to show for a scheduled session will be billed as a regular session rate.

Network Provide

Dr. Mena is an out of network provider and as such can provide a superbill which may be submitted to their insurance company to request reimbursement.

Payment Responsibility

Payment of the balance is the responsibility of the insured or the insured’s representative, parent or guardian if he/she is under 18 years of age.
